Number #1 Technical Problem Solver

My name is Stephen, and I want your business to succeed

I've spent 25+ years shipping production software, 10+ years consulting, and leading high-stakes projects from idea to launch. When I step into your company, I'm there to own outcomes, not just give suggestions.

Mobile and AI Specialist

For the past decade, I've specialized in building cross-platform mobile applications (React Native, Flutter) and backend services that integrate seamlessly with modern AI APIs. I've helped companies move from “we think AI could help us” to shipping real, AI-powered features that improved customer experience and cut operational costs. From custom chatbots to intelligent automation and machine learning, I've worked hands-on to turn buzzwords into working products.

Future Proofing

I've been in tech long enough to watch entire stacks go obsolete. My approach is to design scalable, maintainable architecture that's cloud-agnostic where possible, security-hardened from day one, and ready to evolve as your business grows. I've led migrations from legacy on-prem systems to Azure and AWS without downtime — and avoided the “rewrite every 18 months” trap by making smart tech decisions up front.

Set You Up For Success

Great technology isn't just code — it's the system around it. I've built agile development processes for startups and enterprise teams alike, implemented CI/CD pipelines that cut release times from weeks to hours, and hired/developed engineering teams that can run at full speed without micromanagement. Whether you have an in-house team, offshore developers, or a mix, I can bring the right tools, communication cadence, and architectural clarity to get everyone rowing in the same direction.

Exclusivity

I believe focus is a superpower. That's why I only take on two to three clients at a time. This means I'm not just a name on your org chart — I'm in the Slack channels, reviewing code, joining stand-ups, and making decisions alongside you. You get my attention when you need it, not in a once-a-week status call where I've forgotten the details. My job is to make you success and I can only do that if I'm ALL IN.

Founders' Frequent Questions

FAQs

I NEVER take on a client that would have a conflict of interest with another client. Each client is in a unique industry or market, and I ensure that my work with one does not interfere with another. However, in my 10+ years of consulting I've found that lessons learned with one client can often be applied to another, which can actually enhance the value I provide to each client. I have handled multiple clients during my consuting time which turns 10 years of calendar experience into 30-40 years of experience in terms of the breadth and depth of knowledge I can bring to each client.

Absolutely. After an initial assessment, I dive deep into your codebase, architecture, and processes. I put together a plan That aligns with your product goals and timelines. I make decisions that set you up for success and provide a roadmap. Initially, I'll be in the trenches with your team, coding, reviewing pull requests, mentoring developers, and ensuring that the architecture is sound and scalable. Over time, I transition to a more strategic role as the necessary pieces are in place, but I'm always available for hands-on support when needed. Absolutely. I've built everything from enterprise SaaS platforms to cross-platform mobile apps (React Native, Ionic), migrated infrastructure to AWS and Azure, and led DevOps transformations that cut release times from weeks to hours. I stay in the code, review PRs, and mentor devs.

Sometimes, yes. That's why I often start with a 2–3 week technical audit — architecture, code quality, scalability, security — and deliver a concrete plan you can execute with or without me. If you do need a fractional CTO, we'll know it for sure.

I've been the entire dev team and I know how to translate your business goals and vision into actionable tasks for your developers. While you focus on the big picture, I ensure that the technical team is aligned with your business objectives and that the right priorities are set. A "middleman" might be exactly what you need to bridge the gap between business and technology, ensuring that your product vision is executed flawlessly. As a part-time CTO, you get the benefit of my experience and expertise without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Absolutely not. Though my role is to work myself out of a job that would be eventually be taken over by a Full-Time (and full-priced) CTO, I am here as long as you want me. I will be in your Slack channels, attending stand-ups, and available for ad-hoc meetings as needed. My goal is to be a part of your team, not just a consultant who disappears after the initial engagement.

Testimonials

Listening to our clients

My biggest fear was that a fractional CTO would be too distracted, juggling three or four startups. But working with Stephen, it felt like I had a partner inside the team — not a consultant on the outside.
